After the X-H2S and the X-H2, Fujifilm is back with another new camera: the X-T5. This model is full of new features and will certainly please fans of the brand. Unlike its predecessors, this camera has a more refined design that fits comfortably in the hand.

Although the brand has moved away from its film camera roots, it remains true to the ergonomics of those cameras with the Fujifilm X-T5. The main lines of the X-T4 are still evident in this new model, which celebrates its second anniversary this year. Fujifilm X-T5

THE FUJIFILM X-T5 HYBRID IN DETAIL

The latest high-resolution sensor and processor technology

The Fuji X-T5 features Fuji's 5th-generation 40.2-megapixel BSI X-Trans 5 HR sensor, which is the highest-performing APS-C-format camera in the XT series – up from 26 megapixels in the X-T4. Images are recorded at a size of 6864 x 5152 pixels, offering excellent detail and plenty of latitude for cropping your subject.

The Fujifilm XT5 benefits from a pixel layout that has been optimized for detail, color accuracy and autofocus performance when combined with the blazing-fast X5 processor.

This imaging processor is smaller, faster, and more energy efficient than previous models, giving the Fuji X-T5 20% longer battery life (up to 740 shots). The noise suppression achieved by this combination is also the best yet in a previous-generation camera, with a low base ISO of 125. In addition, it offers the ability to capture HEIF files.

Fuji's X-T5 not only has impressive resolution, but it can also capture continuous bursts of up to 15fps at full resolution and record 6.2K/30p video internally without overheating for up to 90 minutes.

In electronic shutter mode, continuous shooting increases to 20 frames per second, and Fuji's electronic shutter speed now reaches a staggering 1/180000sec.

Fuji Fujifilm Xt5

Multi-shot pixel shift

The new sensor's pixel-shift multi-shot feature enables 160-megapixel photos, providing high resolution for posters and other large prints.

To do this, the sensor shifts 0.5 pixels between 20 images, which are then combined into a single DNG RAW file that can be further processed with RAW software.

For recordings where accuracy and detail are essential, you'll benefit from exceptionally accurate coloration that virtually eliminates false colors and moiré.

XT5 Fuji

Excellent viewfinder performance

The XT series camera viewfinder provides the best viewing experience with its 3.69 million dot viewfinder and 100 frames per second refresh rate.

The reaction time when switching from the LCD to the EVF is 0.12 seconds, while returning to the screen is only 0.16 seconds. The viewing point is now 24mm, up from 23mm previously, and the diopter adjustment has been extended to -5~+3dp for clearer vision.

FUJIFILM's Different Film Simulation Modes

19 Film Simulations are available, including the popular Classic Chrome, Velvia and Eterna. Film Simulations deliver impressive images straight out of the camera by combining the colours of popular analogue films and adjusting tones and contrast.

These simulations can be accessed through the camera's main menu system or the quick menu, and they can also be customized to your preferences.

More compact design for better ergonomics

The Fujifilm X-T5 body has been improved not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of ergonomics and handling. It is 5% smaller than the previous generation camera and 50g lighter.

The handle has also been redesigned for better grip and more solid handling. Another new feature is the three-way tilting LCD screen.

Fuji XT5 Fujifilm

Improved autofocus performance

The X-T5's new X-Trans 5 HR BSI sensor gives you 100% phase-detection AF and a -7EV low-light limit. The PDAF pixel count is 3.33 million (up from 2.16).

This increase in the number of PDAF pixels on the sensor means you can focus more precisely on fine textures such as animal fur, grass or trees.

New AI feature can recognize multiple subjects in an image

The AF algorithm has been improved for tracking fast moving subjects, or anything smaller in the frame.

In addition, the Fujifilm XT5 now incorporates Deep Learning technology. A wider range of subject recognition now includes human face/eye as well as animal, bird, automobile, bicycle, airplane and train.

For creators, this means you can capture and track more varied subjects for sharper images and photos by simply choosing the appropriate subject in the camera settings menu.

Amazing video performance with the Fuji XT5

This is the first camera in the XT lineup capable of recording 6.2K/30p video in-camera, as well as 4K/60p and ultra-fast 240p 1080 Full HD for slow-motion effects.

Additionally, color fidelity is improved with 4:2:2 10-bit up to 400Mbps. With F-Log2, you get over 13 stops of increased dynamic range (1 stop more) and the ability to connect an external monitor to an HDMI Type-D port to capture ProRes RAW or BlackMagic RAW footage.

The X-T5 offers a continuous recording time of 90 minutes (25ºC) and 60 minutes in 4K/60p. Even in extreme heat of 40ºC, you can record for 17 minutes and 18 minutes respectively with the same settings.

Advanced body stabilization

The new stabilization algorithm significantly improves IBIS, going from 6.5 stops in the last model to a maximum of 7 stops of image stabilization.

Stabilization in video mode allows for panoramic movements

Video mode also adds shake correction to the DIS, with a new processor feature that effectively corrects for "blur" that tends to occur in fixed-point shots with wide-angle lenses.

To top off the improvements to video stabilization, the IS mode is more powerful, which is ideal for walking shots, providing improved correction for run-and-gun movie scenarios.

The lens ecosystem is vast and varied

With Fujifilm X-mount lenses , you have plenty of options for your creativity, whether you're new to the system or experienced.

The recently released next-generation XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR lens is just one example – the Fujifilm 30mm f/2.8 R LM WR Macro lens was also released simultaneously.

Additionally, you'll find a wide range of third-party products from big names like Samyang, Tamron, and Sigma, among others.

Connectivity and accessories

The Fujifilm XT5 features an upgraded NP-W235 rechargeable battery, dual high-speed UHS-II SD memory card slots, and a Type-D HDMI connection for external monitors and recorders.

For videographers, this will be a welcome addition, as will the camera's 3.5mm mic jack for capturing professional audio.

You can connect to WiFi using the standard IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless protocol, or you can use Bluetooth Ver. 4.2 (Bluetooth low energy).
