Canon has just unveiled new firmware updates for its flagship hybrid cameras, the EOS R5 Mark II and EOS R1. The updates include mainly bug fixes but also some welcome improvements—especially for EOS R5 II users, who can now enjoy 23.98fps/24.00fps frame rates with LP-E6NH or LP-E6N batteries. A great way to give a second life to your old batteries!

The EOS R1 benefits from most of the same improvements as the R5 Mark II (excluding the specific frame rate support for batteries). Expect clearer Wi-Fi connections, enhanced FTP features, a customizable Shooting Mode adjustable during writing, improved stability with non-communicating lenses, and smoother FTP transfers. Err70 errors are minimized, video stabilization is more reliable, image copying and third-party device operations are optimized, screen shutdown is faster, and Look File and AF frame handling are improved. Lastly, network stability is also enhanced.
In short, these updates bring meaningful improvements, whether to streamline your workflow, enhance camera stability, or make better use of your old batteries. A must-have update for all EOS R5 II and R1 owners!
