Incredible portrait lens
The RF 85mm f/1.2 L is an incredible portrait lens. The bokeh is creamy and the subject separation is fantastic. It's a bit heavy, but the results are worth it.
Quality improvement
I switched from my beloved R5 to this improved model. I was eager to try out the eye control feature from the R3, and it follows my gaze quite well, although it sometimes deviates slightly. This remains an interesting innovation, even if it may seem gimmicky. On the other hand, the specific action modes for basketball and soccer are incredible. I tested it on soccer: the autofocus is ultra-precise and never fails.
The right choice for me
Exactly what I wanted. I was hesitating between the Sony 100-400, the Sigma 70-600 and this lens. I opted for the latter because of Sony's proven quality, focal range, weight and fast focusing. I should have bought this lens years ago.
Incredible at 500mm
This lens is exceptionally sharp throughout the zoom range, but particularly brilliant at 500mm. Used with a Canon R6 or R6 Mark II, it delivers breathtaking results. By leaving a good distance between subject and background, you'll achieve soft, pleasing background blur, even at f/7.1. Turn up the ISO and use DxO PureRAW if the light's a little short, and you'll still get great images. This lens is worth every penny.
Outstanding quality
A Nikon user for over 45 years, I decided to take the plunge with a zoom lens, and I have absolutely no regrets about this choice. After 4 months of use and around 800 photos taken, I'm impressed by the sharpness and detail offered by this lens. Fast, quiet and incredibly precise right down to the corners of the image, it exceeds my expectations. I've taken it with me on a few short trips, and I'm fully satisfied with the results.
